HIV PREVENTION AND CASE MANAGEMENT

Compass’ origins started in 1988 when it was awarded a Center for Disease Control (CDC) four-year grant to provide HIV testing and education as the Stop AIDS Project of South Florida.

After successfully completing the grant, we officially became Compass, the gay and lesbian community center of the Palm Beaches. For almost 30 years, Compass has provided a safe space for HIV testing services to all, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity and expression.

In 1994, Compass expanded its services to include Case Management services for people living with HIV and AIDS. The program assists clients in identifying appropriate service options by providing guidance and instructions with documents to ease the process to obtain medical assistance.

The prevention team works closely with case management to assist clients in entering care with support and consideration of clients needs. Currently, the case management team serves over 400 individuals annually in Palm Beach County.
