In 1994, Compass expanded its services to include Case Management services for people living with HIV and AIDS. The program, which also has offices at community health centers in Delray Beach and Riviera Beach, assists clients in identifying appropriate service options by providing instructions and documents to ease the process to obtain medical assistance.
Compass federal, state, and locally funded HIV and AIDS Wellness Advocacy program has provided case management, mental health, and transportation services to more than 4,000 HIV+ persons since the programs inception.
Compass’s origins started in 1988 when awarded a Center for Disease Control (CDC) four-year grant to provide HIV testing and education as the Stop AIDS Project of South Florida.
After successfully completing the grant, we officially became Compass, the gay and lesbian community center of the Palm Beaches. For almost 25 years, Compass has provided a safe space for HIV testing services to all, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity and expression.
