World AIDS Day

In recognition of World AIDS Day,  Compass partners year with the Names Project to display the largest collection of the AIDS Memorial Quilt in Florida at our center. Each year, the opening ceremonies are hosted on December 1st  which include the opening of the quilt display, a candle light vigil, induction of new quilt panels from local community members, and special performances by Voices of Pride.

A week's worth of community events join local community based organizations and several area churches together to engage the community in becoming a part of a global impact to end AIDS.  In an effort to work closer with national and local initiatives to provide Palm Beach County with resources, Compass' World AIDS Day is meant  promote awareness about HIV and how to live a stronger and healthier life.

The AIDS Memorial Quilt, founded in 1987, is the largest piece of community folk art in the world, a 54-ton collage affixed with the names of 91,000 victims of AIDS.

Your contributions enhance Compass’ funded programs for community center activities and special events held outside of the scope of our funded, direct service programs.
