For more than 20 years, Compass has provided a safe space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth in Palm Beach County. At Compass, LGBTQ youth and their allies engage in social support, community service, arts & cultural activities, educational, and leadership opportunities.
We strive to ensure all youth in Palm Beach County are safe from discrimination and harassment, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, and/or gender expression. More than 1,000 youth and their families have accessed services through our Youth program since its inception, making it one of the longest running and largest LGBTQ youth programs in the southeast United States.
Drop In Center:
Compass’ Youth Drop-In Center is for LGBTQ youth and their allies (ages 12-19).
It’s a safe space to hang out, use computers, talk about the issues that matter to you, and connect with your community.
Compass Youth Group implements the Wyman Teen Outreach Program® (TOP®), which empowers teens to lead successful lives and help build strong communities. TOP® discusses goal-setting, human development, sexual health, relationships, peer pressure, community service, and values.
The political advocacy and education program at Compass enables our youth to learn about the legislative process as well as inspire new leaders within the local community. Local political figures from state senators to Palm Beach County School Board members frequently speak to the youth about issues directly impacting LGBTQ teens. Legislative Advocacy and Educational Days (LEAD) is an annual trip the youth program takes to Tallahassee.
Compass’ Mentoring Program explores arts and culture throughout Palm Beach County.
We participate in field trips, group activities, trainings, and parties. The Mentor Program requires a 12 month commitment of 4 hours per month. The Mentoring Program was made possible through generous support from the United Way of Palm Beach County, Inc.
Equality Prom is an annual celebration for LGBTQ high school students and their allies. Since 2013, Compass has hosted the free and inclusive dance to celebrate our youth and honor their diversity. Equality Prom is made possible by fundraising efforts of the youth prom committee and generous donations from the community.
